Training Options
We believe it’s very important for dog owners to be able to work with a trainer that they feel comfortable with. This is why we offer free initial Obedience and Behavior Modification consultations. During this 15-30 minute meeting, which takes place in your home, the trainer will observe your dog, and then you and a trainer will sit down and talk about what you would like to get out of your training lessons. From this point, the trainer will come up with a plan that fits your schedule.
Fee: FREE!!
Obedience
Obedience is the foundation of a dog’s life. Without obedience training, your dog can become unmanageable. Through training, the dog learns not only tricks, but behaviors that help lead it through its life and become a wonderful member of the family. We offer two levels of obedience training, Basic and Advanced.
All Obedience cues are taught using reward-based positive training techniques!
Dogs and owners will learn the following cues in Basic Obedience Training:
- Name recognition
- Focus
- Sit
- Down
- Stay
- Leave it
- Loose Leash Walking
- Come
Dogs and owners will learn the following cues in Advanced Obedience Training:
- Heel
- Wait
- Sit/Stay
- Down/Stay
- Stand
- Pillow
Obedience sessions are once a week for five weeks. Lessons are 45-60 minutes long. Beginning Obedience or knowledge of beginning obedience cues a prerequisite for Advanced Obedience.
Fee: $300.00 per five session (five lessons) for both Basic and Advanced
Behavior Modification
Sometimes, dogs can engage in behaviors that annoy their owners. If left unchecked, these behaviors can cause the family much unneeded stress. Some behaviors can even be dangerous. We can help contain some deemed “problem behaviors” with behavior modification training.
Kate’s Great Kanine’s will identify the problem and the cause of the problem and treat it using the same reward based training techniques as in our obedience. By treating the cause, the problem, with lots of patience and time, will disappear.
If your dog exhibits one of these problems and you would like it to stop, give us a call!
- Excessive Barking
- Digging
- Jumping
- Inappropriate Chewing
- Nipping (not agression)
- Bolting
- Walking issues (reactivity, pulling)
We can also help your new dog/puppy settle into their new house by dealing with these issues
- Crate-training/House-training
- Separation Anxiety
Behavior Modification sessions are paid for individually for as long as is needed for the owner to feel confident that the behavior is fixed. There is also a free follow-up meeting offered to check and see how training is progressing
Fee: $65.00 per session
